Feeding the Machine
There is another complication to consider. Power.
Hyperscale facilities consume electricity on the scale of small cities. You cannot run thousands of servers continuously without an immense, uninterrupted flow of energy. Technology companies are under severe pressure to keep things clean, meaning renewable energy providers are a natural part of this narrative.
Similarly, as the digital footprint of Southeast Asia expands, the region becomes a prime target for malicious actors. Cybersecurity firms with established cloud operations are quietly anticipating a surge in demand.
To me, this entire theme is a slow burn. The region is home to hundreds of millions of increasingly connected citizens, and the infrastructure to support them could take decades to build. Do not expect explosive, overnight miracles. The large-cap dominance of these companies suggests a long-term, measured trajectory.
Geopolitical headwinds might easily stall this progress, and returns are absolutely never guaranteed. Yet, the underlying logic is hard to ignore. The East is wiring up, and the old guard of tech is quietly footing the bill.
