A Different Kind of Car Company
Let’s be clear. Foxconn, or Hon Hai Precision if you’re being formal, has built an empire on one simple principle: making things for other people, very efficiently and at a colossal scale. They aren't trying to be the next Tesla, with its cult of personality and vertically integrated fortress. Instead, they seem to be taking a far more cunning approach. They want to be the go-to factory for everyone else.
Their secret weapon could be the MIH platform, which stands for Mobility in Harmony. Think of it less as a car and more as a sophisticated set of Lego bricks. It’s an open-source foundation that other, smaller companies could use to design and build their own electric vehicles without needing to spend billions on research and development. It’s a bold, almost audacious, move that could democratise car manufacturing. But will it work?
