Horizon Technology Finance Corporation is an externally managed, non-diversified, closed-end investment company. The Company lends to and invests in development-stage companies in the technology, life science, healthcare information and services and sustainability industries (target industries). The investment objective of Company is to maximize its investment portfolio’s return by generating current income from the debt investments it makes and capital appreciation from the warrants it receives when making such debt investments. It is focused on making secured debt investments to venture capital and private equity backed companies and publicly traded companies in its target industries. The Company holds warrants to purchase stock, predominantly preferred stock, in 90 portfolio companies. The Company is managed by Horizon Technology Finance Management LLC, a specialty finance company that provides capital in the form of secured loans to venture capital backed companies.
